Prof. Mohamed Ben Omar Ndiaye

Director General of the Institute of Public Policy (IPP)

Mohamed Ben Omar NDIAYE is a Certified Professor of Economics at the University Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. Appointed to the rank of Chevalier in the National Order of the Lion of The Republic of Senegal in February 2022, he is currently holding the following responsibilities as Director General of the Institute of Public Policy (IPP), Scientific Coordinator of the West African Science Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and Director of the Development Policy Analysis Laboratory (LAPD) at the University Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) of Dakar; and Director and member of the Board of Directors of the Public Procurement Fund - Caisse Des Marchés Publiques (CDMP) - of the Deposits Fund - Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) - of Senegal.

He served as Director General of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) - from June 2008 to August 2016 - an International Institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), to lead the ECOWAS Monetary Cooperation Program (EMCP), which should lead to monetary integration and the creation of a single currency for the 15 member countries. From 2017 to 2021, he was appointed Coordinator and Focal Point of the “Observatoire de la Francophonie Économique (OFE)”, to strengthen the partnership between UCAD and the University of Montreal (UdeM) Quebec on education, research, and public policy orientation and implementation.

Prof. NDIAYE capitalizes on over 22 years of extensive experience in engaging at the highest levels with governments, leading figures from academia, civil society, the private sector, and international organizations. From 2005 to 2008, he also held the position of National Director of Master and Doctorate (Ph.D.) programs of the Interuniversity Graduate Program (PTCI); and Deputy Director (and Acting Director) of the Applied Economic Research Center of the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar. He is the Author of numerous scientific publications and communications and a Member of several scientific committees and research networks. He has successfully piloted numerous large- scale socioeconomic and financial development research and evaluation projects in the area of
​ economic policy.
